Simcom Upgrades Eclipse Sim Training
SimCom Training Centers tells ANN that it is upgrading one of
its Eclipse simulators and has expanded the capabilities and
credits of its Eclipse 500 training courses in Orlando, FL. These
improvements will allow pilots to train using the most advanced
avionics available for the airplane and will provide the most
efficient Initial Type Rating program.
One of two Eclipse simulators is being reconfigured with the
Avio Integrated Flight Management System (IFMS), duplicating the
most advanced and updated avionics option for the airplane. The
Avio IFMS includes digital moving map, XM weather integration,
electronic charts, flight plan overlay on Nav displays and WAAS
precision approach capability (LPV). The simulator upgrade to Avio
IFMS is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2011.
Further, SimCom now offers an optional advanced Eclipse Initial
Type Rating course for more experienced pilots. This advanced
course shortens the duration from 14 days to 9 days. Designed for
the pilot with previous turbine and high altitude operating
experience the 9-day course has a reduced number of classroom hours
focused specifically on the Eclipse 500. The total simulator hours
are the same as the 14-day course, but are condensed and
administered using a more intensive format. For years, SimCom has
successfully provided similar advanced pace training to qualified
pilots on other jet aircraft.
"Taking advantage of our experience, we have been able to
achieve these major training course improvements for Eclipse
pilots," says Wally David, SimCom's President and Chief Operating
Officer. "The upgraded avionics and the shortened 9-day Initial
Type Rating course improve and simplify the process for pilots
seeking to obtain Eclipse 500 Initial or Recurrent training. The
Eclipse is a superb airplane that deserves the equally superb
simulator training programs we are now offering."
Headquartered in Orlando, FL SimCom operates training facilities
in Orlando; Glendale and Scottsdale, AZ; and Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX.
Training on one of the company's two Jetstream J-41 simulators is
also conducted at the Eastern Airways headquarters at Humberside
International Airport in Kirmington, UK.
