WAI Announces Scholarships For 2016

Not Just For Pilots; Not Just For Students; Not Just For Young People; Not Just For Women

Women in Aviation International has announced the availability of its 2016 scholarships. As of July 1, 2015, 98 separate scholarships with a combined value of more than $480,000 are offered. All WAI scholarships will be awarded during the organization’s 27th annual International Women in Aviation Conference to be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee from March 10-12, 2016.  Scholarships are funded by both companies and organizations as well as individuals.

"Our scholarship program is not just for pilots, not just for students, not just for young people and not just for women,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian (pictured). "Anyone who is a member in good standing of WAI can apply for two scholarships per year. Of course, there’s a scholarship for almost every aviation interest – flying for fun, maintenance, engineering and a variety of flight training and type rating scholarships for those members who are pursuing a professional pilot career.  We are very grateful to the generous organizations and individuals with whom we partner to bring so much opportunity to so many people.”

Applicants must be a member of Women in Aviation International by November 2, 2015, and have until November 16, 2015, to apply for up to two scholarships. Details on each scholarship and a how-to on the application process are available at WAI.org and also in the July/August issue of Aviation for Women.

“We also urge people to check back periodically at WAI.org as new scholarships are added right up until the cutoff date in November,” adds Chabrian. “The new scholarships are marked with a NEW! icon for easy identification.”
