MGL Avionics Leads The Way To ANN's USSAE 2015 Special Coverage

Bright, Powerful, Intuitive: MGL Avionics Is A Next Generation EFIS.... Today!

Since 2001, MGL Avionics has been producing avionics for the Experimental and Light-Sport Aircraft markets. The flagship product is the iEFIS - a comprehensive flight, engine and navigation instrument designed to meet the demands of the modern pilot. It is the next generation EFIS system utilizing a custom developed, pressure sensitive, sunlight-readable touchscreen that can also be operated using gloves.

iEFIS combines the undeniable advantages of simplified operation that a touchscreen can offer with rich traditional knob and button controls that are equally indispensable in the cockpit environment. The pressure sensitive touchscreen operates much like a tactile button preventing false activation when touching the screen in turbulent conditions. A simple but highly effective solution...

As an EFIS hardware platform, the iEFIS breaks the tasks it conducts down into separate modular multi-processor units that all communicate on a reliable CAN bus network. This results in a robust system in which each device on the network has very specific tasks to handle. This is coupled with intense low power design methods to further maximize overall system application and reliability.

The large amount of flexibility built into the base system allows the adaptation of the iEFIS to almost any mission and aircraft. The iEFIS screens can be completely edited by the user using a simple PC program to create any display the user desires. This makes the system absolutely the most customizable EFIS on the market today! Due to low system cost, the iEFIS is equally suited to light aircraft, gliders and rotorcraft, while providing enough flexibility to be utilized in multi-engine aircraft with up to 4 engines monitored, and in turbine aircraft and even spacecraft.

The principle guidance during the iEFIS development was “complete, one stop, any function, any aircraft”.

MGL Avionics produce a range of EFIS products, 2 ¼” and 3 1/8” Single instruments and radios.

'Did-You-Know?' -- Cool Facts About MGL Avionics

  • iEFIS is a comprehensive flight, engine and navigation instrument designed for Experimental and Light Sport aircraft.
  • iEFIS is a custom developed, pressure sensitive, sunlight readable touchscreen that can also be operated using gloves.
  • MGL Avionics harnesses have click-together Mate-N-Lok (Molex) connectors so you can install all devices and then provide a Power/Data connector to them and then simply click the harness together. No wire splices required.
  • The iEFIS offers comprehensive engine monitoring for any engine. All engine data is captured via our RDAC (Remote Data Acquisition Computer) that mounts near the engine (in front of or behind the firewall).
  • The latest MGL Avionics SP-6 CAN and SP-7 CAN AHRS sensors can be used with the iEFIS. They connect to the iBox via the CAN Bus. You can use up to 2 SP-6 Compass sensors and 4 SP-7 Attitude sensors with each iEFIS system if redundancy is required.

  • The iEFIS ships with nicely laid out standard screen page layouts. There can be up to 9 page views and these can be toggled by rotating the Page rotary control. You can choose from our standard screens (the unit ships with 5 predesigned screens) or you can use our free PC-based iEFIS Simulator and Designer editing software to design unique screens.

  • The iEFIS features ‘floating box’ Highway-in-the-Sky (HITS) navigation as well as providing the user with a 3D depiction of the outside world for situational and terrain awareness.
  • The iEFIS can monitor traffic from several sources via the RS-232 or ARINC 429 interfaces and will display traffic on the moving map and with visual and voice alerts.
  • The iEFIS can display ADS-B Weather in the form of radar overlays, METARs, TAFs and on-map VFR/IFR symbols for airports while in flight.
  • The iEFIS has a built-in voice alert system.
