Summit Launches Avro RJ85 Program

Forms Partnerships With Det'on Cho And First Air

The Summit Aviation Group has launched an Avro RJ85 program that will initially help service Diavik Diamond Mine's transportation needs through a partnership with Det'on Cho Logistics and First Air.

"The introduction of the Avro RJ85 to Summit's fleet is a significant change in our business model," says Summit's president, Rob Mauracher. "Being able to move upwards of 90 passengers to and from remote locations significantly broadens our service offering, while still providing the northern expertise in safety and reliability Summit is known for."

"We are excited to be assisting with the introduction of a new aircraft to the north," stated Matt Mossman, President, Det'on Cho Logistics. "Our strategic partnership and unique product offering with Summit Air and First Air allows our clients, like Diavik, options and flexibility as their needs evolve throughout their life cycle."

Summit is part of the Ledcor Group of Companies and operates a fleet of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft based in Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest and Yukon Territories. "Our commitment to enable economic growth in the north is unwavering. We're already hiring more locals to fill positions created by our expanding northern fleet," stated Paul McElligott, Ledcor's President, Resources and Transportation, echoing remarks made to various dignitaries at an event in Yellowknife last June. "As we move forward, we'll continue to seek out long-term, sustainable relationships, such as the partnership we've formed to service Diavik's Diamond Mine."

Under the contract, Det'on Cho Logistics, in partnership with Summit Air and First Air, will manage the transportation of mine site employees travelling to the Diavik Diamond Mine from Edmonton.
