AD NUMBER: 2007-09-07
SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2007-09-07 SUMMARY: We are adopting a new airworthiness directive
(AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory
continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation
authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe
condition on an aviation product.
The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as: * * * a Nose Landing
Gear (NLG) hinge pin rupture that causes an uncommanded NLG
retraction. Investigations identified the unsafe condition
resulting from an incomplete thermal treatment done on three hinge
pin batches lowering their mechanical properties with a high risk
of deformation under service loads.
EADS SOCATA notes that an NLG hinge pin rupture could cause an
uncommanded NLG retraction during landing.
We are issuing this AD to require actions to correct the unsafe
condition on these products.
