"It would be a step in the wrong direction. Negotiations will become much harder if the UK, or any other EU member state, commits subsidies to the A350."

Source: Neena Moorjani, a spokeswoman for the US Trade Representative in Washington. She was quoted by Bloomberg News as the UK seemed likely to approve a $680 million loan to Airbus to develop the A350. The issue of aircraft subsidies for both Airbus and Boeing is the subject of a huge WTO lawsuit that could take decades to decide.
