Former Astronaut Designed The Controller Which Is New To The Market
Fluidity Technologies has been named a CES 2019 Innovation Awards Honoree for its FT Aviator, the first single-handed, precision flight drone controller with advanced camera interfaces built right into the device. The announcement was made during CES Unveiled New York, an invite-only tech event bringing together top media, exhibitors and industry leaders for a sneak peek of the products and trends expected at CES 2019.
An annual program that celebrates outstanding design, the CES Innovation Awards recognizes honorees across 28 product categories. A panel of judges, including designers, engineers and members of the tech media, reviews submissions based on design, functionality, consumer appeal, engineering and how the products compare with competition.
Former NASA astronaut (and member of the US Astronaut Hall of Fame), pilot, physician and entrepreneur Scott Parazynski designed and launched this first-of-its-kind FT Aviator drone controller just this week. Based on Scott's diverse experiences, from operating the Space Shuttle robotic arm and medical robotics, to piloting high performance aircraft and spaceflight training in virtual reality, the new device from Fluidity Technologies is deeply rooted in aerospace engineering, is incredibly precise, and much easier to learn than existing devices on the market today. In addition, commonly accessed camera controls are built right into the controller, as are visual and tactile cues to enhance safety and flight performance.
"Drone controllers today simply aren't intuitive to fly, and from my aviation and robotics experiences, I had the unique lens to understand what it takes to create precision movement and control of motion through 3-D space," said Parazynski, founder and CEO. "We are incredibly honored to be recognized by the Consumer Technology Association and look forward to positively impacting the drone market with our simple, intuitive controller."
The FT Aviator is currently compatible with nearly all DJI drones and is available for purchase on Kickstarter. The FT Aviator is expected to retail for $449 but is available for pre-order for $225 -50 percent off – with limited quantities. It is expected to ship in early Q1 2019
The CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), owner and producer of CES, the world's largest and most influential technology event. CTA has been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.
Fluidity's FT Aviator will be on display in the Innovation Awards Showcase at the upcoming CES 2019.
