Canadian Aviation Centre Opens at St. Andrews Airport

New Location, Experienced Management

The new Canadian Aviation Centre began operations at St. Andrews Airport in Manitoba last week. The company plans to deliver complete flight training services using a large fleet of training aircraft and modern flight simulators.

The Canadian Aviation Centre, located in the facilities that formerly housed the Winnipeg Flying Club, is a subsidiary of Steinbach-based Harv's Air Service. Harv's Air was established in 1972, and has grown to become one of the leading flight training schools in Canada, offering Canadian- and internationally-certified pilot training and air taxi services.

"We are very excited to be opening a new location at the St. Andrews airport," said Harv's Air and Canadian Aviation Centre founder Harv Penner. "I'm confident that we have the skills and positive attitude needed to make your flight training the most fulfilling and enjoyable experience possible."

The Canadian Aviation Centre operates a fleet of Cessna 152s, Cessna 172s, a Bellanca Citabria (taildragger), and a Piper Warrior. In addition, two certified Flight Training Devices (flight simulators) are available to students along with access to an internet-based Online Ground School.

The school employs several Designated Flight Test Examiners to ensure the highest flight training standards and to provide students with ready access to flight tests.

Its location at St. Andrews Airport is ideal for flight training, with three runways, a control tower operating 16 hours daily and a large nearby practice area. The campus includes 2 large hangers, a 10,000-square foot classroom, administration and restaurant facility and an 18-student dormitory.

The highlight of the summer for the Canadian Aviation Centre staff will be the arrival of members of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, who will pursue their Private Pilot's License under the Flying Scholarship Program. Starting in September, the Canadian Aviation Centre will join with Red River College to offer a community college diploma in Aviation Business Management.
