AOPA On Teterboro

"Teterboro Is A Safe Airport"

ANN REAL TIME NEWS: 1805 EDT -- AOPA reacted swiftly to news that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey wants to make big changes at Teterboro Airport, NJ.

"First, despite community concerns, Teterboro is a safe airport," said Roger Cohen, AOPA Vice President of Regional Affairs in a statement to ANN.

"AOPA wants to be sure our members will continue to have access to affordable, GA-friendly airports, and does not want to see our members squeezed out of Teterboro by high cost," he continued.

"Finally -- and most importantly -- what happens at Teterboro is up to the FAA. The Port Authority as airport sponsor plays a major role, but the ultimate decision  on aviation policy and rules rests solely with the FAA," Cohen concluded.

A statement from NBAA was expected shortly.
