Medical Transportation Flight Goes Down En Route To Patient Pickup

Two On Board Fatally Injured When Accident Occurred Shortly After Takeoff

Two people on a flight arranged by Angel Flight East were fatally injured last week when the Beechcraft 58 Baron they were aboard went down shortly after takeoff from South Jersey Regional Airport (KVAY) in Lumberton, NJ.

Fox News reports that the plane went down about six minutes after departing KVAY headed to Massachusetts to pick up a patient who would be receiving treatment in Philadelphia. The two men on board have been identified as Angel Flight East volunteer pilot Robert Winner, 69, and 71-year-old Timothy Scannevin.

Winner owned the Baron, according to the report. He had flown 16 missions for Angel Flight since joining the organization in 2013. Scannevin was not associated with the charity, according to the report.

The NTSB said there was no distress call from the aircraft before it went down in an open field. It impacted a row of trees and then came to a stop in a second field on the other side of the treeline.
