Pakistan Fields Bell Helicopters In War On Terror

Bell 412 EPs On Patrol

Pakistan is bringing some major US technology to bear in its own war against terrorists -- 26 brand-spanking new Bell 412EP helicopters.

Already, the Pakistani Army's Aviation Wing is flying nine of the American-built aircraft. "The government has handed over the received aircraft to the Aviation Wing of the Pakistan Army," sources told Pakistan's Daily Times. The deal is reportedly worth $230 million. The nine now in service were delivered in June. The remaining 17 will reportedly be delivered within the next eight months.

The Pakistani government says the new helos will be used to patrol the border provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, looking for terrorists and keeping a special watch for terror activity.
