Classic Aero-TV: AIRBOSSINC -- Providing An Alternative to the FAA

The FAA Is NOT The Only Entity That Can Offer Controlled Ops At Airshows...

While at the Light Sport Aircraft Expo 2014 in Sebring, Florida ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell was flying a lot of planes and noticed how smoothly the air traffic control tower operations were going.

In this video we find out that the control tower was being operated by a private company named Airboss Inc. Jim took the time to meet with George Cline, the President of Airboss Inc. to get more information about his company and its operation.

Cline said that he has been in this business for a few years now because the FAA has priced themselves out of the business. While the FAA used to specialize in supporting aviation events with portable control towers, that is now mostly a thing of the past, and Cline has moved in to fill the gap.

Cline explains his operation, and it’s a fascinating story. All of his controllers are professionals, many with experience at EAA AirVenture. There are either retired from the FAA or the military and his operation is not hampered by the work rules that drive the FAA costs through the roof.

Watch this video you and you’ll get a fascinating insight to how a private business can come in and get it done. George Cline and his crew are fun to watch. You’ll also get a up close look at the operation of the tower at Sebring during a major air event.
