A United Airlines jet enroute to Cancun from Washington D.C.
was diverted to Havana on Sunday after the flight crew noticed an
unusual odor in the cabin.
Flight 831 departed Washington Dulles airport Sunday morning.
The crew chose to make the landing in Havana "in an abundance of
caution," according to a UAL spokesperson. "We are working to
re-accommodate our customers."
USA Today reports that Cuban officials are being tight lipped
about the incident, and no UAL jet was reportedly visible at the
Havana airport from surrounding roads.
