Linear Air Introduces First All Weather Eclipse To Commercial Service

Upgrades Enhance Charter And Pilot Training

Linear Air, an Eclipse 500 air-taxi and pilot training provider, introduced the industry’s first Eclipse 500 upgraded for Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) into service Monday. The aircraft has also been upgraded to Avio NG version 1.5, which includes GPS WAAS navigation and advanced autopilot functionality.

Linear Air will operate the upgraded Eclipse 500 in the Northeast U.S. from Hanscom Airport in Bedford, MA outside Boston, serving as an air-taxi charter from New England to metropolitan New York. In addition, as an FAA-approved provider of Eclipse pilot training, Linear Air will offer FIKI and Avio 1.5 differences training in the company’s upgraded airplane.

Bill Herp, CEO of Linear Air commented, “Icing conditions exist when there is rain, snow or even clouds, and the temperature is less than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This has frequently kept our customers grounded, especially in the winter, but even in the rest of the year.” Mr. Herp added, “We’re proud to be the first commercial operator to introduce the upgraded Eclipse to our air-taxi charter and pilot training customers.”
