TSA Approves Flights Direct To DCA From First Aviation Services - Teterboro

Authority Falls Under DCA Access Standard Security Program

TSA has granted approval for direct flights from Teterboro to Washington Reagan National Airport (KDCA) departing from a secure ramp maintained by First Aviation Services - Teterboro under TSA's DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP).

"Our certification under DASSP is another plus for tenants and customers operating from Teterboro into Washington, D.C.'s convenient downtown airport," said First President/CEO Bill Thomas. "They can now depart directly from our secure ramp without repositioning to another facility to clear TSA procedures."

TSA approval required one year of effort by First to secure DASSP FBO status. Beyond offering new advantages for transient operators, TSA FBO approval is a major plus for First tenants who previously had to reposition their aircraft and incur ramp charges elsewhere on the airport while undergoing
TSA inspection.

The FBO has designated a special, secure ramp area on its 24-acre facility to accommodate TSA clearance for DCA flights.

For several years after 9/11/2001, non-scheduled flights into Reagan National were restricted to government aircraft operations. Now, 48 private non-scheduled flights per day are permitted by aircraft operators possessing TSA approval for DCA operations from 28 "gateway" airports including Teterboro.

Individual aircraft terminals at gateway airports must also be approved by TSA for such operations. Non-scheduled flights to Reagan Washington National are specially inspected by TSA before departure and must carry a TSA-approved armed security officer aboard.
