New Helicopter-Specific Training Manual Available From EHeST

Organization Says Helicopter Instructors Worldwide Can Benefit

Like a good pilot, a good flight instructor is always learning. Now the European Helicopter Safety Team (EHeST) has prepared a helicopter-specific manual that can benefit instructors worldwide.

“Even though there are some regulatory differences, this new manual is a great source of information for helicopter instructors worldwide,” said Matt Zuccaro, president and CEO of HAI and co-chair of the International Helicopter Safety Team, of which EHeST is an affiliate. “All of us who instruct know that different students learn in different ways, so this new manual could offer some great alternatives to assist your students throughout their training.”

The EHeST flight instructors’ manual was developed and adapted from a similar manual prepared by Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The first part of the book deals with principles and methods of instruction — what the FAA refers to as Fundamentals of Instruction. It covers all of the material required by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) but presents it in a different order. The second part of the manual covers flight maneuvers and ground instruction.

The U.S. Helicopter Safety Team (USHST) also supports the document as one of a number of effective training tools available for flight instructors.
