Renown for its leadership in the gyroplane market, Sport Copter,
Inc. debuted the latest in two-place design two years ago with the
first flight of its SportCopter II. Since then, the company
has continued to push for superior handling performance, including
a brand-new tail design that provides better pitch and yaw
stability than the previous cruciform tail.
One thing that has not changed is the SportCopter’s
celebrated cabin class comfort; featuring a 49” interior
width, the cabin size provides easier cockpit management and
substantial cargo room for increased storage capacity.
The compact instrument panel allows for customized
instrumentation, including EFIS glass cockpit systems. Both
the cabin and engine remain enclosed within the SportCopter
II’s glass pod, offering complete protection of vital
components, added propeller efficiency, and all weather
capability.
The SportCopter II will feature the previously unavailable
Lycoming I0-360, 220 hp air-cooled engine, as well as a new
suspension system; due to the aircraft’s increased gross
weight and need for rough-field capability, the system’s
design provides maximum vertical undercarriage travel for absorbing
extreme landings while still supporting slow, drop-in
landings.
Additionally, the SportCopter II features an all-new triple
vertical stabilizer/rudder system that provides stability in slow
flight maneuvering and high-speed cruise for superior handling
without increased pilot workload. Currently, the SportCopter
II kit is estimated at $59,995.00, with engine and prop packages
sold separately based on customer preference.
