AeroSports Update: The Lee Bottom Wood, Tailwheels & Fabric Fly-In

The Lee Bottom Fly-In Will Welcome Visitors September 19 Through 21, And Event Organizers Are Finding A Better Way To Get The Job Done

After several years of rainouts, storm damage, and time off for the owners, the Lee Bottom Fly-In located on the banks of the Ohio River in southern Indiana is coming back. In the process, things are changing. A reduction of expenses and improved efficiency are chief among them.

“For years our attendees told us that if we wanted to reduce expenses, make it as simple as possible. That’s the kind of people they are; they’re about the flying, not the flash”, said Rich Davidson. Because of this insight, key changes were sought out to reduce the workload and cash expenditures.

The solution to many of the fly-in’s issues is an online ticket sales system. This will greatly reduce the largest layout of time and money; the registration area. By requiring attendees to purchase their tickets online before leaving for the fly-in, everything at the event will be streamlined.

When pilots arrive they’ll hand their pre-printed tickets to meet-and-greet volunteers and the process of registration and ticket sales will be complete. No longer will they have to go in search of the registration tent and stand in line after a long flight to the event.  Instead, all the work required to attend will have already been done. This will also greatly reduce the effort and money required to orchestrate a registration area capable of handling hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people.

People who purchase their tickets by September 16th will receive a 25% discount.

This year individuals can sponsor one of 48 new runway marker cones for $100. In turn they will get to write their name or a short message on the cone and place it on the runway. Along with this, they’ll receive a ticket to the event. Sponsors can improve the appearance of the field, leave their mark on a favorite grass roots airport, and get to hang out with like-minded aviators.  It doesn’t get much better than that.
