Application Submitted To The Jackson Hole Airport Board
A second FBO could soon come to Jackson Hole. Wyoming Jet Center, a Jackson-based company, has submitted an application to open a fixed base operation at the Jackson Hole Airport. If approved by the Jackson Hole Airport Board, airport users will again enjoy a choice of fixed base operators in Jackson Hole after a two-decade hiatus.
“We look forward to establishing a world-class FBO serving both general aviation and the airlines. We intend to bring friendly competition back to the Jackson Hole Airport along with the all the cost savings and enhanced service levels that competition brings,” said Greg Herrick, CEO of Wyoming Jet Center who has kept his airplane at the Jackson Hole Airport for more than 20 years.
Wyoming Jet Center’s application has the support of numerous airport users as well as national aviation organizations such as the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, General Aviation Manufacturers Association and others. Herrick also points out that all four airlines serving Jackson Hole have expressed their support of Wyoming Jet Center’s application. In addition the company has identified what they believe are opportunities for the airport to realize additional revenue from FBO services already being delivered.
In its application, Wyoming Jet Center cites FAA rules intended to protect fair competition at federally funded airports. These rules prohibit the granting of special privilege or monopoly to anyone providing aeronautical services. Wyoming Jet Center notes that reinstating a second FBO at Jackson will aid the Airport Board in meeting these as well as the “fair and reasonable” requirements of the U.S. Department of the Interior Use Agreement which is the foundation for the airport’s existence within Grand Teton National Park.
Michael Lawrence, general manager of Wyoming Jet Center, noted that the company’s application dovetails nicely with proposed improvements to the general aviation operating area at the airport. “Wyoming jet Center will be yet another example of the many improvements being made at the Jackson Hole airport,” Lawrence said.
“Any business operating on the Jackson Hole Airport is a reflection of our community. Our new FBO will offer top-notch general aviation services of which the Jackson Hole community will be proud,” Herrick added. “We know that for many visitors their first – and last – impression of Jackson Hole is experienced at the airport. It’s important we get that right. Any FBO should operate from a position of extreme integrity, honesty and with a true commitment of service to one’s customers and the community.”
