OSH2014 Sponsor: 'Super-App' ForeFlight

LONG-TIME ANN Sponsor, ForeFlight, Provides GREAT Guidance For Oshkosh 2014!

ForeFlight was founded in 2007 by aviation entrepreneurs who set out to build elegant, high-performing flight planning and flight bag apps for pilots.

ForeFlight Mobile, our flagship product, improves situational awareness, increases productivity, and simplifies decision making for pilots and flight crews all over the world. ForeFlight is used by all segments of aviation, including general, business, commercial, and military aviation.

Individual pilots and professional flight crews use ForeFlight Mobile to efficiently gather preflight weather information and destination information, route plan, access and manage electronic charts and terminal procedures, organize flight publications, and reference as an enroute navigation aid.

Since we saw you at AirVenture 2013, we have had 9 major releases with lots of new features to make flying safer and more fun. Some of the highlights include: Plates on Maps, Flight Alerts, Aerial Maps layer, Search & Rescue grid overlays with search pattern builder, cockpit sharing, runway advisor to identify best runway based on winds, expanded chart coverage in Caribbean and Mexico, ICAO flight plan filing and in-app flight plan amend, close, cancel, and activate capability, a user interface overhaul, ForeFlight produced Airport Diagrams, Profile view, a free Stratus 2 firmware upgrade, Pack, smart stadium TFRs, geo-referenced Canada Air Pilot charts, Sync, and more!

We’ve got lots more in store for this year and if you are visiting AirVenture 2014, please come by the ForeFlight booth in Hangar A (Booth numbers 1147, 1148) to talk with ForeFlight’s Fanatical Pilot Support Team members, see what’s new, learn tips and tricks, and get answers to questions. Also, make sure to attend one of four iPad proficiency seminars ForeFlight will be conducting during AirVenture.

Did-Ya-Know? (REALLY Cool Facts About ForeFlight)!

  1. ForeFlight Mobile was the first and only aviation app in the Apple App Store when it opened on July 10, 2008.
  2. The Stratus ADS-B platform, a partnership between Appareo, ForeFlight, and Sporty’s, earned the FLYING Magazine Editor’s Choice for the second year running in 2013.
  3. ForeFlight makes its own data-driven airport diagrams for airports that don’t already have an FAA diagram. Because an airport should be without a diagram.
  4. You can file your flight plan right from the ForeFlight Mobile app. You can also activate VFR flight plans; and amend, close, and cancel VFR and IFR flight plans from the app.
  5. ForeFlight Mobile’s Plates on Maps feature allows you to overlay approach plates and airport diagrams onto the Maps view. Inflight, you can see your aircraft position on the plate, along with weather, traffic, terrain, and obstacles in one seamless map view.
  6. ForeFlight Mobile has a built-in airport directory for over 25,000 locations worldwide. Airport businesses have options to upload photos, logos, services and amenities, fuel prices, and more for comprehensive destination planning.
  7. ForeFlight has a Pattern Entry Advisor that helps you set up a perfect pattern entry to unfamiliar airports.
  8. ForeFlight has a TFR layer in the Maps view that graphically displays TFR information, including smart stadium TFRs that are updated based on event schedules.
  9. ForeFlight Mobile uses Lockheed Martin as the primary flight plan filing service.
  10. During flight planning, you can use the Aerial map view in ForeFlight Mobile to brief area and airport familiarization using satellite imagery of the Earth’s surface.
  11. We at ForeFlight love EAA AirVenture as much as you do. It’s the highlight of the year for us to visit with old friends and customers, and meet new ones!
