NATA Denver Town Hall Covers General Aviation Workforce Shortage

Other Staffing Challenges Also Addressed In The Session

On March 26, the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) held the third in its series of 2018 Industry Town Hall meetings at Signature Flight Support (APA) in Englewood, CO. NATA Managing Director, Safety and Training Michael France was joined by state department of transportation personnel and other Denver-area aviation business professionals, including leaders from FBOs, airports and air charter providers. NATA Board Vice Chair and Ross Aviation President and CEO Jeff Ross welcomed attendees with opening remarks before the group discussed an array of topics affecting general aviation — namely staffing challenges and the workforce shortage.

“The Denver turnout and resulting conversations reflect the importance of going out to our members and other aviation professionals to identify industry priorities,” stated France.

“Listening to the concerns of our town hall attendees, allows the association to learn first-hand from general aviation businesses regarding issues that affect the industry and affords NATA the opportunity to work toward resolutions,” stated Timothy Obitts, NATA Executive Vice President & General Counsel. “NATA’s recent Denver and Austin town halls had a recurring theme: personnel challenges. During our June 12-14 Annual Meeting and Aviation Business Conference in Washington, DC, the workforce shortage and other emerging industry issues will be discussed. NATA also wants to encourage the next generation of aviation leaders to join in the conversations by attending the conference and future town halls. To make it more affordable for young professionals to attend the Aviation Business Conference, NATA is offering half-off the conference registration fee.”

“We appreciate Signature Flight Support (APA) for hosting our third town hall of the year and AirSure Limited for sponsoring this important series of industry meetings. We thank the attendees for their participation in our town hall, as general aviation is a key contributor to the Denver-metro economy,” Obitts concluded.

NATA Industry Town Halls are free to attend. Upcoming dates include:

  • April 19 | High Performance Aircraft | San Diego, CA
  • May 10 | Thunderbird Aviation| Minneapolis, MN
  • September 13 | Jet Aviation | Bedford, MA
  • September 25 | Epps Aviation | Atlanta, GA
  • November 15 | Banyan Air Services | Ft. Lauderdale, FL
