Aero-News: Quote of the Day
ANN's
Quote of the Day usually derives from current news, though we
reserve the right to pick quotes out of history that have a bearing
on the day's events and issues.
Sometimes, you'll find them timely and in keeping with the
content of the day's news... and sometimes, they'll just be
thought-provoking.
Reader suggestions and comments are welcome... and if
particularly intriguing, timely, or poignant, may themselves
become future Quotes of the Day.
Let us hear from you, folks!
Aero-News Quote of the Day
"An expert on civilian aviation at
the US Air Forces who wishes to remain anonymous said: '35,000
people alone work in the Congress building. The quick response for
the evacuation of the large number of employees from the building
in the shortest possible time was tested. Furthermore, the
reactions of people, the panic, their knowledge of emergency exists
and which the files were taken during the evacuation were observed
in the test.'"
Source: Turkey's Cihan News Agency, claiming
last Wednesday's Washington ADIZ incursion -- in which an aircraft
approaching within three miles of the White House forced the
evacuation of the executive mansion, Capitol and Supreme Court --
was a test conducted by the DHS to evaluate readiness at each of
those government institutions. If that was a test, then it looks
like the senior of the two pilots aboard the encroaching Cessna
150K failed. As ANN reported earlier on Monday, 69-year old Heyden
"Jim" Schaeffer appears to be on the brink of losing his flight
privileges -- forever.
