Aero-TV: Fixed Wing R/C Models-Horizon Hobby's Stunning Small A/C Capabilities

RC Aviation Offers Stunning Technologies and TRULY Exciting Flying Fun For Today's Model Aviators

While at eFest 2015, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, talks with a company known as Horizon Hobby to find out what’s going on in the rapidly changing world of remote control (RC) aircraft.

In this interview, Jim talks with David Payne, the senior product developer of airplanes for Horizon Hobby, about the airplane facet of RC flying.

Payne starts off by saying one of the most important achievements in recent years is the development of a technology referred to as “SAFE.” SAFE is the acronym for “Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope” and it allows almost anyone to get started into RC Airplane flying with an airplane that simply won’t let you get into trouble.

As Payne talks about the new systems of controlling RC airplanes, the video shows these airplanes in detail and in action. The cost of RC airplanes is discussed and it’s surprising how affordable they are. It was also a surprise to see an RC model of the World War II Corsair referred to as a “trainer.”

This video goes into further details about the equipment used for RC flying, the construction of the airplanes, and a plan for getting started. If you’re even thinking about operating and RC airplane, this video is the perfect starting place to learn the basics.

Be sure to look for our other Horizon Hobby videos that deal with quadcopters and rotorcraft.
