FDC 5/8804 ZHU ...SPECIAL NOTICE... EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. JOINT TASK FORCE RITA AIRSPACE CONTROL PLAN (ACP), GALVESTON JOINT OPERATIONS AREA (JOA) PROCEDURES ARE IN EFFECT. ASSESSMENT, SEARCH, RESCUE, RECOVERY AND RECONSTITUTION OPERATIONS ARE IN EFFECT IN THE FEMA- DECLARED DISASTER AREA ALONG THE GULF COAST OF TEXAS AND LOUISIANA. RITA GALVESTON JOA: 304700N/0943842W, 304700N/0920000W, 292300N/ 0920000W, 292300N/0943842W, SURFACE UP TO BUT NOT INCLUDING 5000 MSL. THIS ACP IS DIRECTIVE FOR ALL DOD FLIGHT ASSETS. NON-DOD AIRCRAFT SUPPORTING ASSESSMENT, SEARCH, RESCUE, RECOVERY AND RECONSTITUTION OPERATIONS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT PILOTS NOT PARTICIPATING IN THESE OPERATIONS AVOID THE JOA AIRSPACE DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF BOTH ROTARY AND FIXED WING AIRCRAFT.
