Enstrom Helicopters Announces New COO

Adam Richardson Begins Tenure as Manufacturer's New Chief Operating Officer

The resurgent Enstrom Helicopter Corporation has some new blood in charge, nearly a month after the imperiled company's purchase by Chuck Surack.

While some worried that Enstrom's Chapter 7 filing might put an end to its 60-year history, Surack's energetic approach to rotary-wing aviation appears to have given the outfit a second wind. The company plans to ramp up production up to 24 aircraft next year, with 2 new-manufacture helicopters ready for next year's Heli-Expo 2023. Central to the plan is providing Enstrom with some enthusiastic leadership eager to bring the company to new prominence in the light helicopter market - and Adam Richardson wants to be the right guy for the job.

Richardson brings more than 17 years of experience in the aerospace industry, with time spent in quality, planning & control, and operations management. Born and raised in Indiana, Richardson got his start in the Marine Corps, graduating from the Marine Corps Communication Electronics School in Twenty-Nine Palms, California. After his stint with the USMC, Richardson attended Purdue University for mechanical engineering that quickly brought out a job for him with the Rolls-Royce Corporation. Richardson later finished up his college resume with a bachelor's from Indiana Wesleyan, majoring in Business Management.

“Flight is something I have always been intrigued by, but never ventured into,” Adam said. “After visiting Enstrom for the first time and seeing three helicopters on the flight line I knew I wanted this in my future!” Adam currently stands as a student pilot working towards his private pilot license in a spiffy little Enstrom 280FX, aiming for his checkride in January. "Adam brings a wave of energy to the site and a desire to enable everyone to be at their best," said Enstrom's announcement.

Richardson has brought the whole family to the 'yoop, with two kids and his wife Jamie in tow. The bunch looks forward to exploring the Great Lakes region, whether boating, flying, or blasting down the trails.
