Spirit Pilots Obtain Tentative Agreement

"Zero Concessions", Said ALPA Negotiators Bearing 27% Pay Boost

Spirit Airlines pilots may have an agreement on the way, according to the negotiations committee from the Air Line Pilots Association. The tentative agreement with Spirit Airlines lays out an economic gain of $463 million over the next 2 years, with zero concessions. The deal should grant Spirit pilots a pay boost to the tune of 27%, should it be ratified.

The man suspected of fashioning the bomb that destroyed Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988 is in U.S. custody—so U.S. and Scottish authorities reported on Sunday, 11 December 2022. A Department of Justice spokesman confirmed Abu Agila Mohammad Masud—a longtime explosives expert for Libya's intelligence service—had been taken into U.S. custody and is “expected to make his initial appearance in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia."

Uncrewed Test Flight Sees Artemis Capsule Trek Around the Moon and Back

The Orion spacecraft safely and successfully splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, dropping west of Baja California on a lazy Sunday morning after orbiting the moon. The test began on November 16, when the Orion was sent off to evaluate its capability to bring astronauts to the moon for Artemis II. The result is promising, with the Orion successfully looping around the moon and returning safely to Earth during its 25 and 1/2 day flight.

A B-2 Spirit—colloquially Stealth—bomber of the United States Air Force’s 509th Bomb Wing suffered damage on Saturday, 10 December 2022, when an in-flight malfunction forced the aircraft’s crew to make an emergency landing at Missouris’ Whiteman Air Force Base—the 509th’s home. The Last Porter Heads Home, Ending a 50-Year Production Run

Pilatus has officially delivered the very last Porter PC-6, the firm's long-lived turboprop STOL aircraft. Throughout its long production life, the Porter became an international fixture in areas hard to access with traditional aircraft thanks to its light weight, robust manufacture, and tailwheel configuration. While comparable aircraft have come and gone, the PC-6 remained in low-rate production at the company's Stans facility from 1959 to 2019. From start to finish, Pilatus produced 500 PC-6s in its Swiss facility, with an additional 100 produced in the USA under license.

NTSB Prelim: Orlican S R O M-8 Eagle

The Engine Or Propeller Began To Vibrate, And The Pilot Elected To Return

On December 5, 2022, about 1726 central standard time, an Orlican S R O M-8 Eagle airplane, N602TG, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near St. Louis, Missouri. The pilot and pilot-rated passenger sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the pilot-rated passenger, the purpose of the flight was to perform a “test” flight following unknown maintenance actions to troubleshoot a reported engine or propeller vibration.
