If you have the money, then you can buy your way into space... Blue Origin has concluded the online auction for the very first seat on New Shepard with a winning bid of $28 million. Nearly 7,600 people registered to bid from 159 countries. The winning bidder will fly to space on New Shepard’s first human flight on July 20, and will join Blue Origin founder, Jeff Bezos, and his brother, Mark. The winning bid amount will be donated to Blue Origin’s foundation, Club for the Future. FAA Proposes Fines Against 4 More Pax for Allegedly Interfering with Flight Crew

Reports Of Passenger Misbehavior Have NOT Decreased

The FAA has proposed civil penalties ranging from $7,500 to $15,500 against four airline passengers for allegedly interfering with flight attendants who instructed them to obey cabin crew instructions and various federal regulations. The enforcement actions announced recently are part of the FAA’s zero-tolerance policy for unruly and dangerous behavior by passengers. Since Jan. 1, 2021, the FAA has received approximately 3,000 reports of unruly behavior by passengers, including about 2,300 reports of passengers refusing to comply with the federal facemask mandate.

MD Helicopters Secures $43.9 Million In Army Contracts

MD Helicopters has won two independent contract awards worth $43.9 million from Army Contracting Command-Redstone supporting the Afghan Air Force’s MD 530F Cayuse Warrior light attack helicopters. The first contract, a six-month extension worth $14.5 million, continues MDHI’s longstanding efforts to provide program management, and contractor logistics support (CLS) services, material, and remote operations to support the Afghan fleet. NTSB Prelim: Piper J4A

The Engine Sputtered Once And Stopped Producing Power

On May 30, 2021, about 0955 central daylight time, a Piper J4A airplane, N8501Z, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Omaha, Nebraska. The pilot sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. During the preflight, the pilot reported that he filled the main fuel tank to the top and the auxiliary fuel tank had four gallons of fuel inside. The pilot planned on departing from the North Omaha Airport (3NO), Omaha, Nebraska, for flight operations in the airport’s traffic pattern. Before the takeoff, the fuel selector was positioned for the main fuel tank.
