Airborne-Flight Training 02.18.21: FSANA Postpones, Robinson Video, HAI FIRC

Another much-anticipated event, one that was pretty an indoor convention, has been delayed due to issues associated with the pandemic. The Flight School Association of North America notes that, "Through discussions with members, suppliers, government officials and hotel management, the FSANA board and staff have decided to reschedule the 2021 conference. We apologize to anyone unable to make the new date, but feel the move will make for a better conference for all who attend or exhibit. We expect that we may have our largest attendance ever." The event is now scheduled for August 18-20, 2021, and will still be held in the Rosen Plaza in Orlando,

GB1 GameBird Serial number 0027 was rolled out Thursday February 3rd 2021 for its production test flight from out of our facility on the Louise Thaden Airfield in Bentonville, AR. Production Flight Test is the final process before delivery. Each new GameBird is reportedly subjected to a rigorous set of inspections and checks which cover engine and avionics, flight controls, and system checks, as well as a final cleanup before handing the airplane over to its new owner.

The 495th FS Will Be Called The “Valkyries”

The 48th Fighter Wing has selected a new nickname for the first U.S. Air Force overseas-based F-35A Lightning II squadron. The wing solicited help from the public to name the unit. Suggestions were originally submitted in the fall of 2020, and were narrowed down from 700 unique names to five finalists. In December, the 48th FW received thousands of votes from opinion polls, and the wing is excited to announce that the 495th FS will be called the “Valkyries,” besting four other choices – Archangels, Sabres, Sentinels and Swordsmen.

On January 31, 2021, about 1420 mountain standard time, a Cessna 172, N4376Q, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Silt, Colorado. AD: Airbus Helicopters

AD 2021-03-16 Requires Inspecting Each Sliding Door

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Airbus Helicopters Model AS350B, AS350B1, AS350B2, AS350B3, AS350BA, AS350D, AS355E, AS355F, AS355F1, AS355F2, AS355N, and AS355NP helicopters. This AD was prompted by the in-flight loss of a sliding door. This AD requires inspecting each sliding door and replacing the upper rail or front roller or removing the front roller from service if necessary. The actions of this AD are intended to address an unsafe condition on these products. This AD becomes effective March 3, 2021.
