Kongsberg Geospatial has been selected by Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) to conduct trials of a new long-endurance UAV surveillance system for the Canadian Coast Guard. The MartinUAV V-BAT aircraft was selected to provide the ability to combine take off and landing from the small confines aboard ship with the long endurance of a fixed-wing aircraft while carrying multiple sensors. Gulfstream G700 Surpasses 1,100 Flight Hours

Flight Test Program Reportedly Accomplishes Numerous Flight-Test Milestones

Gulfstream's G700 flight-test program has made significant progress, surpassing 1,100 hours of flying and completing new company test regimens, all within the program’s first year. After its maiden voyage on Feb. 14, 2020, the G700 successfully completed several critical phases-of-flight tests, including envelope expansion, flutter, aerodynamic stalls, flying qualities, flight control systems and air-data testing. The test fleet then went on to conduct winglet and wing-ice shape stall testing, loads testing and initial cold-weather testing at the McKinley Climatic Laboratory at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

Pilots Reject Tentative AA Agreement, Seek More Job Security/Shared Success

JetBlue pilots rejected a tentative agreement that would have given the company contractual relief in order to implement JetBlue’s full partnership with American Airlines. More than 92 percent of eligible voters participated and, of those, 53.7 percent voted against the agreement. “Job security, especially during turbulent points in our industry, is a main concern of every pilot,” said Capt. Silent Arrow has been awarded United States Air Force contract FA864921P0478 entitled "Feasibility of Downsizing and Adapting Commercial Silent Arrow Cargo Delivery UAS to Meet Specific AFSOC Operational Requirements" to the company effective February 5, 2021. The contract will be executed in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) with funding from AFWERX. Under this Small Business Innovation Research ("SBIR") contract, the commercially successful Silent Arrow GD-2000 (Glider, Disposable, 2000 pounds) platform will be scaled down for CV-22 cargo ramp and smaller fixed-wing side-door deployment activities for unspecified U.S. operations.

NTSB Prelim: Cessna U206

The Engine “Rolled Back” And Started To Lose Power

On January 23, 2021, about 1455 eastern standard time, a Cessna U206G, Canadian registration CGWAS, was  substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident in Denton, North Carolina. The pilot and copilot were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 aerial observation flight. According to the pilot-in-command (PIC), she and the copilot had been flying mapping flights for the United States Geological Survey group. The PIC stated they would fly about 250 ft. above ground level in a grid pattern while mapping. She further stated that they had enough fuel on board for about a 6-hour flight.
