Embry-Riddle Adds 17 New Aircraft to Fleet

More New Birds On The Schedule For Next Year

As demand for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s collegiate professional Aviation programs continues to grow, the university has introduced 17 new aircraft to its training fleet. Since March 2020, 12 new Cessna 172 Nav III “SkyHawk” aircraft, from Textron Aviation, and three Diamond DA42 NG VI “Twin Star” aircraft, from Diamond Aircraft Industries (Canada), have been added to the fleet at Embry-Riddle’s Prescott Campus. At the Daytona Beach Campus, one new Diamond and one new Cessna were added during the same timeframe. The Commemorative Air Force has launched its “12 Planes of Christmas” campaign which helps restore vintage World War II aircraft to flying condition. Now in its sixth year, the annual online giving campaign runs from December 1-31, 2020. Individuals can learn about the campaign, select an aircraft to support, and make a donation at www.SupportCAF.org. Recognized as the world’s largest flying museum, the Commemorative Air Force maintains a fleet of over 170 World War II aircraft, more than 70 percent of which are airworthy.

Blue Origin Continues BE-7 Engine Testing

Further Demonstrates Capability To Land On The Moon

Blue Origin’s BE-7 engine program is continuing its testing at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. This week, the program kicked off the fourth thrust chamber test series of its high-efficiency engine. The hotfire testing further validates the engine that will power Blue Origin’s National Team Human Landing System (HLS) in support of NASA’s Artemis program. The Patrouille de France performed in April at Sun 'n Fun, and then toured a large portion of the U.S. during the month of April. In an interview with ANN Editor in Chief Jim Campbell, Lead Solo Pilot Capt. Aubert said that the team trained all winter for the 2017 demonstration to match with U.S. regulations for military team performances at air shows. The logistics were challenging, but he said that at each location in the U.S., the team had support personnel waiting for them to help facilitate their performances.

The Pilot And Observer Heard A Loud “Bang/Wham”

On November 6, 2020, about 1638 central standard time, a Beech J35 airplane, N617Q, and a Beech M35 airplane, N338Z, were involved in a mid-air collision near Fredericksburg, Texas. The Beech J35 was destroyed, and the Beech M35 sustained substantial damage. The Beech J35 pilot sustained fatal injuries, and the Beech M35 pilot and pilot-rated observer sustained minor injuries.
