Captain Gregory McWherter, the former commander and lead pilot of the Blue Angels, has announced that he will be retiring from the Navy after 25 years in uniform. A year ago, McWherter was officially reprimanded by the Navy for allowing a culture of sexual harassment to continue in the Blue Angels organization during two stints as its commander between 2008 and 2012. United Airlines To Add More E175s To The United Express Fleet

Places 10 Firm Orders, Up To 18 Options From Regional Carriers May Be Converted

Embraer S.A. has announced an agreement with United Airlines to add additional E175 jets to the United Express fleet. The agreement consists of ten firm orders, which will be included in Embraer's 2015 second-quarter backlog. Additionally, Embraer expects that United or one of the carriers that operates as United Express will convert options for 18 aircraft to firm orders in the near term.

Testing Underway For First PurePower Engine For Embraer E190-E2

Pratt & Whitney has completed assembly and is initiating testing of the first PurePower PW1900G test engine at its facility in East Hartford, Connecticut. Embraer has released its 2015-2034 Market Outlook which details forecasted deliveries of new aircraft over the next twenty years. The report focuses on the 70 to 130-seat capacity category which is valued at $300 billion during that period. Embraer projects deliveries of 6,350 jets - 2,250 units in the 70 to 90-seat segment and 4,100 units in the 90 to 130-seat segment.

Japan Air Commuter Co. and the European turboprop aircraft manufacturer ATR have signed a contract for the purchase of 8 firm ATR42-600s, plus 1 option and 14 purchase rights, valued at $496 million. The signature of this deal represents a major milestone for ATR, as it represents the 1500th ATR aircraft sold since the beginning of the program. It is also the first contract signed between ATR and a Japanese airline.

Embraer Begins Assembling The First E190-E2

Manufacture Of First Prototype Is Moving Forward As Planned

Two years after the launch of the program, the first of the E-Jets E2 family, an E190-E2, is beginning to be assembled at the company's factory in Sao Jose dos Campos.
