A D-model F-18 Hornet modified by Patria successfully performed its first 51-minute flight on December 3rd, 2009 in Jamsa, Finland. This two-place aircraft is repaired and modified from a single-seat C-model F-18 Hornet badly damaged in a mid-air collision.

Former Blink-182 Drummer Settles Case For An "Undisclosed" Sum

Travis Barker, the former drummer for the band Blink-182, has settled his lawsuit against Learjet and other companies stemming from a 2008 accident which killed both pilots and two other people. Barker, along with radio host DJ-AM (Adam Goldstein), survived the crash, though Goldstein later died of unrelated causes.

Open Skies Accord Paves Way For Joint Ventures That American Says Could Result In Stronger Airlines

American Airlines applauded efforts by Japanese and U.S. negotiators Wednesday for their progress in developing an Open Skies accord that will govern aviation in years to come. American, a founding member of the oneworld Alliance, pressed both countries to reach a final accord in Washington, D.C., this week.

Says It May Be A Sign Of Better Days To Come

A Boeing official says the number of order deferrals has slowed, which could be an indication that the industry's slide may be coming to an end. Boeing President and Chief Financial Officer James Bell told industry analysts that only a few new requests for deferrals have come in since the third quarter ended October 1st.

Power Flow Systems Introduces the Latest in Tuned Exhaust Designs

On November 12th, Power Flow Systems announced the debut of its all-new tuned exhaust system for the Beech Bonanza. Though PFS now has systems on over 3,500 aircraft, the Bonanza will be the company’s first tuned exhaust for a six-cylinder engine. The new system required a “clean-sheet” design to fit inside the cowling while still providing the necessary length for increased performance. The high performance tuned exhaust will feature Power Flow’s patented components including mandrel bent tubing, cabin heat design, and headers comprised of their own independent slip joints eliminating the need for clamps.

As Many As 340,000 Aircraft May Need New Paperwork To Be Legal

The FAA may soon be set to require aircraft to be registered periodically, as are cars and boats. If adopted, the perpetual registration of aircraft would be scrapped and the registration of every aircraft in the United States would be cancelled, requiring a new registration within three years.

Says He Lied On FAA Registration Documents

The U.S. Attorney's Office in McAllen, Texas wants to seize an airplane belonging to Jorge Aguiniga, a Houston car dealer being held on charges of illegal immigration. Aguiniga was arrested on board the airplane, 1978 Beechcraft Model 95-B55, at McCreery Aviation at McAllen airport in July.

Famed WWII CAP Pilot Involved In Dramatic Rescue At Sea

96-year-old Eddie Edwards, a famed WWII Civil Air Patrol pilot and a winner of the first Air Medal of WWII to be presented personally by the President of the United States to any U.S. airman, has passed away. Edwards accepted his Air Medal from Franklin D. Roosevelt in the White House Oval Office in 1942.
