Somali pirates holding 4 vessels off the coast of Somalia
reportedly opened fire on a U.S. Navy SH-60B conducting a
surveillance flight over the captured ships Thursday. The
helicopter was not hit, did not return fire, and no casualties were
reported.
DARPA Developing The Vulcan Engine For Mach 4 Aircraft
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is striving to
build an engine that will propel a hypersonic jet at Mach 4 and
faster, while also bringing new efficiencies to ships and ground
vehicles. DARPA's Vulcan program kicked off this spring .
Retired Air Force major general Charles R. Bond Jr., one
of the last surviving Flying Tiger pilots of World War II, passed
away in Dallas, TX August 18th. Bond was 94.
