The Airborne Laser's (ABL) megawatt-class Chemical Oxygen Iodine
Laser (COIL) was successfully fired in flight Tuesday. The test,
"First Light in Flight," validates the High Energy Laser's (HEL)
ability to fire in an airborne environment.
"Liberty Belle" On Tour, Will Return to Orlando/Kissimmee In
September
Liberty Belle, the most recently restored World War II Boeing
B-17 Flying Fortress will be returning "home" to Kissimmee
Gateway Airport where she underwent a 14 year restoration to flying
condition. Liberty Belle will offer flights to the public
over Orlando and Kissimmee on October 3rd and 4th.
The first Lockheed Martin C-5 Galaxy strategic transport was
inducted into the Reliability Enhancement and Re-engining Program
(RERP) production line in ceremonies at the Lockheed Martin
facility In Marietta, GA August 18. The RERP modifications consist
of more than 70 improvements and upgrades.
