Crew Went Down Saturday During Support Operations In
Afghanistan
The commander of U.S. Air Forces Central expressed condolences
to the families and friends of two Air Force officers killed early
July 18 in the crash of an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet that was
flying in support of coalition operations in eastern
Afghanistan.
A Russian-built Mi-8 helicopter has crashed in Afghanistan,
reportedly killing 16 civilian contractors. It's the second such
incident involving a helicopter in a week, though the downing of an
Mi-26 on Tuesday killing 6 civilians was attributed to possible
enemy fire. That has been ruled out by military officials in
Sunday's incident.
The first Airbus A330 aircraft platform slated for the United
Kingdom's Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft (FSTA) program has
arrived ahead of schedule to begin its conversion into a Multi-Role
Tanker Transport (MRTT) at Airbus Military facilities in Madrid,
Spain.
