Despite assurances from US Air Force officials the chances of a
nuclear accident were "very, very unlikely," this week the chairman
of the Senate Armed Services Committee slammed the service for last
year's cross-country flight of a B-52 loaded with nuclear-tipped
missiles.
It's been a long time coming... but Wednesday, Boeing announced
the planemaker completed Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
certification requirements for Japan's first KC-767 Tanker, earning
the agency's stamp of approval in the form of a Supplemental Type
Certificate.
Surveillance Plane Crashes During Training Mission
A US Navy EA-6B Prowler assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron
136, part of Carrier Air Wing 5, was lost at sea during training
February 12 at approximately 1600 EST, 28 nautical miles off
Andersen Air Force Base, according to Navy officials.
Current Models Don't Offer What Service Is Looking For
Even as other branches of the armed forces eagerly deploy a
number of unmanned aerial vehicles -- both domestically, and in
battle zones overseas -- the United States Coast Guard says it will
be several years before it deploys UAVs to watch over the country's
maritime borders.
