F-35 Full Mission Simulator Installed At Marine Corps Air Station Yuma

Base Will Be Home To The First Marine Operations Squadron Of The Aircraft

The first F-35 Lightning II Full Mission Simulators (FMS) have been installed at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma, AZ by prime contractor Lockheed Martin. The air station will be home to the first operational Marine Corps F-35 squadrons worldwide. Two of six planned Joint Strike Fighter FMS systems have been installed on site.

Airmen Missing From Vietnam War Identified

F-4 Phantom Crew Went Down During A Nighttime Strike Mission

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced Wednesday that the remains of two Airmen, missing in action from the Vietnam War, have been identified and will be buried, as a group, with full military honors. Col. Wendell Keller, of Fargo, ND, and Capt. Virgil K. Meroney III, of Fayetteville, AK, will be buried as a group, in a single casket representing the crew, on Oct. 19 in Arlington National Cemetery. Meroney was interred individually June 9 in his hometown.

Spitfires To Be Unearthed In Burma

Agreement Will Allow Excavation Of Dozens Of The Planes Buried By The British

Nearly 70 years ago, British forces buried dozens of Spitfire fighter aircraft in Burma to keep them out of the hands of invading Japanese forces. The aircraft, properly crated and preserved, have lain hidden underground in Burma ever since.
