Green Flight Challenge To Be Sponsored By Google

Aviation's Largest Ever Prize To Awarded At Moffett Field October 3rd

The CAFE Foundation announced today that Google will sponsor the NASA Centennial Challenge flight competition known as the Green Flight Challenge (GFC). CAFE (Comparative Aircraft Flight Efficiency) will conduct the event from September 25 through October 2, 2011 at Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport. The NASA-funded prize purse of $1.65M makes this the largest ever prize for aviation.

Pilot Survives 17 Hour In Lake Huron After Ditching C150

Told Rescuers He Experienced "Some Kind Of Fuel Problem"

A pilot attempting to fly from New York to Chippewa Falls, WI, "experienced some kind of fuel problem" and was forced to ditch his 1966 Cessna 150 in Lake Huron. The pilot, 42-year-old Michael Trapp, reportedly survived 17 hours in the lake's 70 degree water before being rescued by a fishing boat.
