Street Wise?

A Piper Comanche made an unscheduled exit in Overland Park (KS) early Tuesday morning, much to the surprise of those who were supposed to be on the road. The 1959 Comanche, N-5844P, apparently lost power at around 12:15 am (CDT). Local media reports say the pilot, from Olathe (KS) and the passenger were on a trip from Ohio to New Century Air Center near Gardner (KS).

Two Injured In B-36 Accident

A New Jersey couple was hospitalized in Elko (NV) Tuesday morning after their Beechcraft B-36 made an emergency landing in a field shortly after take-off from Elko Regional Airport. Authorities said the couple had just departed Elko's Runway 5 and apparently ran into power problems right away.

Champion Balloonist Nick Donner Takes to the Air at Embry-Riddle

At age 19, Nick Donner has already been the US National Hot Air Balloon Champion twice -- in 2001 and in 2003 -- and is captain of the American team that will compete at the World Hot Air Balloon Championship in Australia this June. The young balloonist is also a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world's premier university specializing in aviation and aerospace. "I've always wanted to be a pilot," Donner says, "so what better place to get my degree than Embry-Riddle?"
