Pilot Makes Post-Crash Video Floating On The Gulf Of Mexico

Events Lead To Major Donation To His Aviation-Focused Charity

A pilot who ditched his airplane in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Lousiana had the presence of mind to grab his iPad as he was getting out of the sinking airplane. While floating in the water with the person who had been his passenger in the airplane, he made a 1 minute 22 second video with the device, which he said he didn't think anyone would ever see. Pilot T.R. Wright said making the video was just a "way to pass the time."

Community College Aircraft Maintenance Program Closed After FAA Inspection

Issues With Record-Keeping Discovered By The Agency

The Academy at Shawnee's Aviation Maintenance Technology program has been temporarily shut down following an FAA inspection which turned up issues with record-keeping. The program coordinator has been removed by the Jefferson Community and Technical College and Jefferson County (KY) Public Schools, but he is still considered an employee of the school system.

Couple In The Car Said They Did Not See The Cessna On Approach

A student pilot in Texas on his first solo struck a car that was crossing the threshold of an active runway, resulting in extensive damage to both the car and the airplane ... and the accident was caught on video by the pilot's wife. Only minor injuries were associated with the accident.
