With the Air Force's assistance, Iraq now has full air traffic
control responsibility for the country's airspace for the first
time since 2003. The Air Force transferred management of the
Baghdad and Joint Base Balad Airspace sector to the Iraq Civil
Aviation Authority October 1.
ForeFlight has announced a new program designed to put its apps
for pilots into the hands of flight school students everywhere.The
company's blog calls the program the "ForeFlight Educational
Licensing Program (ELP), a volume licensing program for accredited
aviation programs. This new program provides institutions the
ability to offer ForeFlight services at a discount to their faculty
and students."
The U.S. Senate on Tuesday approved H.R. 2112, a funding package
for several government agencies, including the Department of
Transportation. The bill, which must be reconciled with a different
version passed by the U.S. House, addresses the FAA's ATC
modernization and NextGen programs, Essential Air Service, and
other issues. What it doesn't do is resolve long-term funding
issues for the FAA, which is being considered separately by the
legislature.
