Recent Responses To ANN Editorial Comments Suggest AOPA Is
recent ANN editorial offering suggested that the
once-mighty AOPA was out of step with the wants and needs of its
current membership... and displayed a particular
disconnect via the constant bombardment of those persons via
commercial pitches and other money grabs. Intended to be be what
humorous as well as a complaint about the fund-raising tactics of
this organization, the story really set off a number of ANN readers

While ANN was running around/amok at Oshkosh (much like a
certain poultry product sans any evidence of cranial capacity), we
were hard-pressed to keep up with all the goodies that were
presented... but the crowds surrounding the Jepp building convinced
us that it was worth spending a few hours there... and we were NOT
So... How Is Retirement Treating Former AOPA Boss, Phil
Phil Boyer's retirement announcement was NOT the best news we've
ever had to report... but there was no arguing with the fact that
Phil deserved a break (and our thanks) after working the front
lines of the GA fight for the better part of two decades. To those

various trials and tribulations, Phil Boyer proved himself to be
the real deal... a solid leader with some serious smarts and a true
passion for the world of aviation.

inform a pilot that radar data used to determine the aircraft's
position is no longer being received, or is no longer reliable and
radar service is no longer being provided. The loss may be
attributed to several factors including the aircraft merging with
weather or ground clutter, the aircraft operating below radar line
of sight coverage, the aircraft entering an area of poor radar
return, failure of the aircraft transponder, or failure of the
ground radar equipment.

"I have removed my auto membership renewal, and will let
me membership run out; at which point, I will no longer renew my
membership with them. Thank you for bringing to light the
unacceptable behavior of AOPA. They should be removed from
representing GA's best interests."

our recent editorial on some of the most recent escapades at AOPA.
This is one of many hundreds of emails and other responses we
received... with ONE received in support of AOPA's fund-raising
efforts (and a pretty rude one, at that). More to come on this and
other related topics...
