Beginning as an Air Force Photographer in 1943, Frank Ambrose
now operates a studio in Gloversville, New York specializing in
Commercial, Industrial and Portrait photography. This site
showcases his aerial and ground images of the later part of WWII,
taken as a USAAF photographer, mostly 15th AF in Italy.
The gravitational pull on planetary objects from nearby planets
and moons. When the tidal forces of a planet and several moons are
focused on certain moons, particularly if the orbits of the various
objects bring them into alignment on a repeated basis, the tidal
forces can generate a tremendous amount of energy within the moon.
The intense volcanic activity of Io is the result of the
interaction of such tidal forces.
"I was out there all by myself and it was like 'I'm not
by myself'... This probably one of the most moving events I've
worked."
