In 1975, G. Dale Beach was helping a young pilot experiencing
trouble landing a taildragger; it was Dale's first-ever encounter
with a Funk aircraft. The experience so awestruck him that Dale
ended up buying the plane!
A type of friction bearing consisting of a removable cylinder
made of a material, such as bronze, that has a low coefficient of
friction. The bushing is pressed into a hole, and is reamed to a
size that fits the shaft and allows the correct amount of clearance
for lubrication.
"TSA recognizies that an individual exhibiting some of
these behaviors does not automatically mean a person has terrorist
or criminal intent. BDOs do, however, help our security officers
focus appropriate resources on determining if an individual
presents a higher risk or if his/her behavior has a non-threatening
origin."
