"Since December, we improved width, range, seat costs,
economics. We changed the aircraft three or four times in the past
90 days. We achieved an eight-ton weight reduction through the use
of new technologies. This is an all-new aircraft."

speaking to the aviation press in Toulouse, France. Leahy touted
what he called the "all new" A350, no longer a derivative of
another Airbus model. The A350 is the subject of a brewing trade
war between the US and the EU over government subsidies to both
Airbus and its chief competitor, Boeing.
