"Sikorsky and the union did have initial contact with
each other to explore what opportunities there are to resume
negotiations. We'll need some further evaluation of that contact
today to see if an opportunity presents itself to get back to the
table."

on the first meeting Monday between officials with the helicopter
manufacturer and union leaders after approximately 3,600 workers
walked off the job last week protesting Sikorsky's latest contract
offer. While it hasn't shut down production, the strike has sharply
reduced production rates for the manufacturer.
