Source: An unidentified resident of southern Las Vegas, NV, in a town-hall meeting regarding the FAA's plan to reroute as many as 1/3 of McCarren International Airport's daily departures -- approximately 200 aircraft -- over the northwestern part of the city, which is densely populated with new residential development. For years, most of McCarren's departing traffic was routed over the older southern portion of the city.
