Source: Helen Tilgner, speaking of her father... a Vietnam helicopter pilot. Armit Tilgner served six tours of duty in Vietnam. In addition to a Purple Heart, he earned four Bronze Stars, five Army Commendation Medals, three Meritorious Unit Commendation Medals, two Valorous Unit Awards and 136 Air Medal Awards. Armit Tilgner was lost in a 1982 accident, while flying medevac missions in Malaysia.
