"They wanted to replace the old Beechcraft with the new
Beechcraft. I don't know what else we can do. The plane is
bought."
Source: Minnesota Sen. Steve Murphy, at the end
of a Senate Transportation Committee meeting on the state DOT's
decision to replace one of two 27-year-old Beech Bonanza's
with a brand-new Bonanza, instead of an airplane manufactured by
Duluth-based Cirrus Design. Cirrus has claimed the company was
unfairly shut out of the bidding process, after the state allegedly
changed the program requirements to favor the larger Beech over an
SR22.
