Five Fatally Injured, NTSB Indicates PIREPS For Icing, Aircraft Appeared To Break Up In Flight
The pilot of a Socata TMB 700 which went down on an interstate highway December 20, 2011, did not obtain a Direct User Access Terminal System (DUATS) weather briefing, according to a factual report issued by the NTSB. The pilot reported encountering icing shortly after takeoff from Tetrboro (KTEB). All five people on board the aircraft were fatally injured in the accident.
